Hopfield Place – formerly referred to as the Will Hall Farm planning application

An outline application for 180 dwellings (ref: 55222/001) was approved in May 2015. The Reserved Matters application (ref:  55222/003) was submitted in July 2016, and the Alton Society responded on 26th August, registering a number of design issues, the building designs as presented bearing no comparison with the aspirations laid out in the Design and Access Statement that accompanied the Outline application. Other issues related to car parking, energy use, drainage and flood risk.

The Reserved Matters application was approved on 17th May 2017

In December 2018 Redrow submitted yet another amendment to the proposed layout, much to the detriment of the overall appearance, and severely impacting the views into the site in our view, in this very sensitive gateway location.  See below for our comments, submitted on the 5th January 2019.

Late Changes  to  Redrow’s Plans

Redrow Homes then submitted late changes to the layout of the scheme for 180 houses, much to the detriment of the overall appearance, and the critical views into this site from the Basingstoke Road, in The Society’s view.   The new plans included an increase of nearly 50% in the number of houses along the southern frontage:-
